DAY 1 - 07/02/2010

Today I scrambled to take a photograph for a monthly camera club set subject, the topic is Economy and when I mentioned that I would probably just do a stock photography kind of shot involving coins the look I got from Cinz was quite frightening.  So with Cinz creative input we came up with this photo.

She was quite brave and willing to go to a local shopping centre and pose next to this dustbin for me dispite the audience.

I used my Nikon SB-26 Flash with a shoot through umbrella set at quarter power at about 30 degrees to camera right and triggered it with a radio transmitter / reciever set up.  Camera Settings were ISO 200; 1/250 sec Shutter Speed and F5.6 Apperture Setting.

DAY 2 - 08/02/2010

Felt like poking sum fun at super heros today.
Camera settings on this one was ISO 400; 1/200 sec Shutter Speed and F9 Apperture setting.

Below is my lighting setup

Day 3 - 09/02/2010

We kept with the nerd thing today, dunno what you think but if we clean this one up, she might be quite hot?
Camera Settings were ISO 400, 1/200 sec Shutter
Speed, F13 Apperture setting.
Lighting Setup is below

and as a bonus, young Joshua did not want to be left out of the action

Day 4 - 10/02/2010

Tonight we went out for Sushi with some friends, I managed to do this with Cinz advanced compact Fuji S5600 while we were waiting for some of them to arrive.

Camera settings for those interested were ISO 400, 1/10 Shutter Speed and F3.2 Aperture Setting, No Flash.

Day 5 - 11/02/2010

Today was a big day for Cinz she got her 2nd tattoo. We took a drive to Milpark to visit Lil' Shop O' Horrors where Ryan Bolton and Gisella Rose ply thier trades as Tattoo Artist and Piercings Specialist respectively. Now Cinz sports a truly unique bit of ink.

I shot this with a Nikon SB-26 through a Gary Fong Whale Tail at 1/32 Power 24mm Zoom at about 30 deg camera right. Camera settings were ISO 100, 1/90 sec Shutter Speed and F2.8 Aperture Setting

Day 6 - 12/02/2010

Being friday we got to chill out a little earlier today, that is what this photo is all about.  Cause its friday and we Chilling no technical stuff for today.  Cinz ran this through a photoshop plugin to get this gothic oil painting effect.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day 7 - 13/02/2010

Today we did a Burlesque shoot with the wonderful Gisella Rose at the Lil' Shop O' Horrors.  Gis is going oversea's in a few days, and we sure gonna miss her while she is gone.  So Cinz wanted a photo of them together.

Watch out for all the technical stuff when Cinz blogs about the shoot.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day 8 - 14/02/2010

We scouted a location for an upcoming shoot today and to avoid it feeling like work on Valentines day we decided to have a special Valentines breakfast at the venue first before exploring it for opportunities. Needless to say we're delighted with the location and it will suit our theme very well.
For this shot of us we used a table as a tripod, set the timer on the Fuji S5600 and the horrible little on camera flash for fill, so nothing fancy with the lighting, just a bit of a balancing act to balance the bright ambient light and us in the shadow of a veranda.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day 9 - 15/02/2010

Just Messing about with colour gels, Nothing fancy really, just a soft box on either side diffusion panels removed with blue gel on the one & a red on the other both at 1/8th power, Camera @ ISO 400, 1/125 sec Shutter Speed, F16 Aperture Setting.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day 10 - 16/02/2010

Cinz & I really had to get some post processing done today or we would have fallen very far behind with our editing, but we made good head way tonight, and we basically up to date now.

I used the camera's light meter to expose for the monitor, @ ISO 400, 1/30 sec Shutter Speed and F8 Aperture settings, we had a Sony HVL-58 flash @ 1/4 power with a shoot through umbrella to camera left and a Sony HVL-42 flash @ 1/16 power bare with built in diffusion panel setting zoom to 18mm for some fill camera right, both high and angled at 30 deg downwards, to bring up the rest of the room.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day 11 - 17/02/2010

Today we just needed to be around each other so we hope this photo brings that message across. No technical stuff today just the feeling.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day 12 - 18/02/2010

Just an impromptu group shot today, my friend Bradley [Far Right in the Picture], is leaving for the U.S.A tomorrow.  So we grabbed this before some of the folks had to leave.

We missing  few people in this shot, you know who you are, you clowns better be at the airport :-)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day 13 - 19/02/2010

Cinz & I went up to one of my favourite view spots this evening, to get this intimate couples shot with Joburg City as a back drop.

2 bare hotshoe flashes off camera heads set at 45 degress and built in bounce cards extended, triggered with radio transmitter/reciever set up, a Sony HVL-58 at 1/32 power camera left at about a 60 degree angle to us, and a Nikon SB-26 at 1/64 power to camera right virtualy on axis. Camera was set to ISO 400, 1/6 sec Shutter Speed and F2.8 Aperture

I think this idea and concept needs some further exploring, so don't be surprised if we come up with a few more variants of this one in the coming weeks
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day 14 - 20/02/2010

Hey it's Super 14 time, Cinz caught us in the act...
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day 15 - 21/02/2010

From a mothers point of view.
All technical stuff for the high key feel is on the lighting diagram below.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day 16 - 22/02/2010

Keeping with the High Key experiment, todays shot was taken with the same lighting setup as yesterday, except this time I used the High Pass Filter in photoshop and exagerated the effect a little.  Giving this bold look with a High Key feel.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day 17 - 23/02/2010

Went for something a little different today 1 light setup a Nikon SB-26 flash with a DIY Beauty Dish in fairly close for a quick drop off of the light and a more moody feel.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day 18 - 24/02/2010

2 days of me & I'm getting a little tired of my own mug, so today we got a sexy shower character portrait of my muse.
Lights were a Nikon SB-26 Flash @ 1/4 power through a shoot through umbrella, camera right about 20 deg off axis placed quite high in relation to the Cinz position. I placed Sony HVL-58 @ 1/32 power directly on the camera, with 45 deg bounce card for on axis fill.
Oh yes and some more of that High Pass Filter processing I'm liking so much lately.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day 19 - 25/02/2010

Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy! It's coming 3 more weeks to go
Lighting was a studio strobe @ 1/4 power with a medium softbox directly overhead, the die cast model is a 1/43 scale size so that's a massive light source as far as the car is concerned, and my trusty Nikon SB-26 at 1/32 power with a blue gel about a meter behind pointed at the wall another 60cm or 70cm further back.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day 20 - 26/02/2010

The darker and more aggressive side of me? Hey it's Friday again I had some time to play.
I used a Studio Strobe 1/4 power about face level with a medium softbox to camera right, the Nikon SB-26 at 1/16 power from directly behind and aimed at me just below my shuoldes to give me some separation from the background. Camera was set @ ISO 400, 1/200 Shutter Speed, F16 Aperture setting.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day 21 - 27/02/2010

We get some of the best sunsets in the world here in deepest darkest Africa, today was no exception.
4 Shot panorama from my favorite view spot.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day 22 - 28/02/2010

Today we did a spot of fishing, just an excuse really to get out and sit around and do very little for a few hours. We all had fun and had a little sun.
